So the article about my paintings is finally out!  The article is titled,  Injecting Sophisticated Drama: Painting Skies & Coasts with Delicate Brushstrokes. It’s author, John R. Kemp, is the author of numerous books and magazine articles on the arts and a deputy director of the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities.
There’s a link to the magazine website in the web places I like column on the right of this page.

  1. Wow Susan…. congratulations on the article! It was great to read it I learned so much!
I was wondering what are the other colors on your palette? Your work has a special, ethereal-like feel. You create mystery and all I want to do is soak it all in.

    • Thanks, Loriann. Coming from you that’s high praise. As for colors, I use all the earth colors, blues: ultramarine, cerulean, cobalt, greens: viridian, chromium oxide. I like terra rosa, transparent red oxide, naples yellow and the cadmiums. Williamsburg paints makes a turkey umber that I love and Courbet green. Blacks are mars and ivory. Have you tried the M. Graham paints? I am in love with them–they are made with walnut oil and are so rich.
